Many expatriates who want to apply for a family visit visa or a permanent family visa want to know if they need to change marital status in Absher before applying for the visa.
Before applying for the family visit visa or a permanent family visa, the marital status on your Absher account will be “Single” and the good thing is that you don't have to adjust it.
Marital Status on Passport
In order to process a family visit visa or a permanent family visa, the marital status on the wife's passport should be “Married” with the husband's name written on it.
I know the marital status is not written on passports but as long as the name of the husband is written, the marital status is considered to be married.
Change marital status in Absher
After the issuance of visa, once your family arrives in Saudi Arabia and they are officially added in the list of your dependents, the Jawazat will change marital status in Absher to “Married”.
However, if they don't change it in Absher, there is nothing to worry about. According to my limited knowledge about the processes in Saudi Arabia, the marital status in Absher does not affect you at any point in time.
