Saudi Arabia has started construction on a 170 km long city “The Line” in NEOM. At first, the idea of putting the entire city in a straight line sounds a bit confusing but there are many benefits of designing a city in a straight line.
1- A straight-line model of the city is a traffic-efficient model as there will be no cars, no streets, and no carbon emissions.
2- A high-speed train will connect the entire city and people would be able to travel from one corner to another in just 20 minutes using the train. The train would have only four stops.
3- The Line city will have a population of 9 million people who would be able to travel very quickly from one place to another saving a huge amount of time people spend on roads in their lives.
4- The NEOM would be a “5-minute city,” a city where to can access all the essentials and necessities within a 5-minute walk.
Whatsoever that cannot be accessed will be accessed through a high-speed train. The train would be underground, giving space to the people and becoming visually appealing.
NEOM is a city that aims at bringing people closer to nature. Thus, wherever you are within NEOM, you are never far from the city! NEOM is planned with perfection.
The buildings will be 650 feet wide and facing inward, with the outer walls lined with mirrored windows. This will help people to be connected with nature while they are in the building.
