Who was Fatima az Zahra? one of the 4 most pious women in the world

Fatima az Zahra (RA) was the daughter of Holy Prophet PBUH. We know her very well as Islamic history has greatly mentioned her. Fatima Az Zahra was one of the most pious women of the world. She was born to Hazrat Khadija (RA).

She was her youngest daughter. Both mother and daughter were women of pure character, strong faith, and pious heart. She was only 5 years old when the Prophet PBUH was blessed with the prophet-hood.

When the Prophet PBUH, disclosed the news of being chosen as a Prophet, Hazrat Khadija R.A. was the first one to believe him. She and her daughters (Zaynab, Ruqayya, Umm Kulthum and Fatima) accepted Islam.

Fatima az Zahra was the favorite child of her parents. Her parents would call her by different names. These names depicted her personality and characteristics. For instance, the Az Zahra which is added to her name means ‘the Resplendent One’.

This name was given to her because of her glowing face. To acknowledge her character’s pureness, she was often called al Batul. These women stood by the Holy Prophet PBUH even when Muslims were given a tough time by the Quraish.

The Quraish held a political and economic boycott against the Holy Prophet PBUH. This led him (PBUH) and his followers go through tough situations. Yet this toughness couldn’t break the faith of the pious ladies and they stood strong with the Holy Prophet PBUH.

Fatima Az Zahra and her sisters stood by their mother when she decided to dedicate all her wealth in support of Muslims. Their strong faith allowed them to give up the worldly pleasures. Even though Fatima az Zahra was the Prophet’s PBUH youngest daughter (from Hazrat Khadija R.A.), she was his (PBUH) biggest support.

Other daughters were married and lived in their homes. Hazrat Fatima used to be with the Prophet PBUH and stood by him (PBUH) strongly. She emerged out as a great supporter and defender. When Muslims emerged as power and situation got better, Hazrat Khadija R.A. (RA) passed away.

This left Fatima heartbroken. She got married to the Prophet’s PBUH cousin Ali Ibn Abi Talib. Not only Fatima (RA) was a great daughter, she was a great wife. Her sisters were married to wealthy men, but Hazrat Ali was poor.

She did not complain about it; in fact, she would help her husband. She was a patient lady. She dedicated her life to her husband and children. She would cook food, fetch water from well and grind wheat. She and Hazrat Ali lived a simple life and were blessed with four children.
