Travelling from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan: Latest Rules

Saudi Arabia is home to several expats from Pakistan, who constitute a large number of the vibrant expat community in the Kingdom. With the resumption of travel and relaxation of most of the COVID-19 restrictions between the countries, there are still a few things you need to tick off before entering Pakistan. 

Here is everything you need to know about flying between the two countries and the complete list of travel requirements you must fulfil to travel to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia. 

Travelling from Saudi Arabia to Pakistan

Pakistan has resumed most of its regular flight operations, both international and domestic, with every day flights available from Saudi Arabian cities like Jeddah, Riyadh and Madinah to Islamabad, Karachi as well as domestic services within the country, from Islamabad to Skardu, Islamabad to Gilgit, and more.   

Travel requirements

Following the relaxation of most entry rules, it is now possible to travel to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia with minimal COVID restrictions.

Passtrack registration 

Every inbound traveller to Pakistan from Saudi Arabia must mandatorily register on Passtrack via the web portal or on the app available on both Android and iOS and upload their medical and travel records. This will enable authorities to keep track of the development of any symptoms during their stay in Pakistan through voluntary updates and ease of entry procedures at the airport. 

Vaccination certificate

All travellers from Saudi Arabia over 18 years old, including locals, foreigners and diplomats coming through all ports of entry in Pakistan, must possess a fully completed vaccination certificate. In Saudi Arabia, the Tawakkalna App shows proof of immunity and can be used as means of entry to Pakistan to prove immunisation against COVID-19. 

Exceptions include:

  • Travelers than 18 years of age.

  • Pakistani residents 15 years and below

  • Pakistani Students less than 18 years of age who are studying

  • abroad

  • Inbound travellers, both nationals and foreigners, with a valid medical reason for exemption of vaccination issued by a certified doctor 

Testing requirements

The pre-boarding RT-PCR testing requirements have been removed for travellers from all countries, including Saudi Arabia. Only unvaccinated travellers who are over 12 years need to submit an RT PCR test taken no less than 72 hours before arriving in Pakistan. 

On arrival RAT 

Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) will be conducted for every traveller over 6 years of age at their arrival airport in Pakistan. 

Diplomatic passport holders are exempted. However, diplomats will self-quarantine at their respective residences for 10 days. Diplomats willingly undergoing RAT will be exempted from the quarantine procedure.

Unvaccinated diplomats must undertake the RAT. 

After the test:

  • If you test negative: you are free to leave the airport. 

  • If you test positive: you will be quarantined for 10 days at a quarantine facility. If you test negative on the RT PCR test taken on the 8th day of the quarantine, you are free to go home. Otherwise, if you test positive again, additional quarantine is mandatory. 

Quarantine requirements

No quarantine restrictions exist unless you test positive at RAT at the airport.
