3 sons and 16 grandsons of Prophet Noah A.S

The Prophet Noah was accompanied by his three sons named Shem, Ham, and Japheth. They had their believing wives with them. These 3 sons of Noah were blessed with 16 sons. Now, these 16 grandsons of Noah distributed around the world and spread in number over years. One of them is our great ancestor.

Interestingly we can trace the region where the sons and grandsons of Noah settled as their descendants would name the place or the major city against the name of their ancestors. So many cities and regions historic names can let us hunch down where the grandsons and sons of Noah resided. Let us see where these grandsons of Noah resided and who our great father is:

1-Japheth – the son of Prophet Noah A.S

Japheth is the son of Prophet Noah A.S. and he had 6 sons. We have given details about all of them below.

1.1-Gomer – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Gomer was the son of Japheth and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. Flavius Josephus who is Jewish historian is of view that Geometries were often called Galatians or Gauls and in the New Testament records the Turkey name as Galatia. So, Gomer must have resided there.

There is evidence that supports that they must have migrated towards France and Spain and that is why France was named as Gaul in the past. Moreover, to date, people do call North-west Spain as Galicia. Also, it is stated that some descendants of Gomer migrated towards Wales.

The Welsh Historian Davis says that they reached Isle of Britain after 300 years of the flood. The Welsh language thereby is also known as Gomeraeg.

The sons of Gomer were named as ‘Ashkenaz, and Riphath, and Togarmah’. They also migrated and formed regions. The Armenians are descendent of Togarmah and Ashkenaz. Turkey is likely to have derived its name from Togarmah. The Hebrew word for Germany is Ashkenaz.

1.2-Magog – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Magog was the son of Japheth and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. Josephus is of view that Magogites were called as Scythians by Greeks. Britannica Encyclopedia reveals that the historic name of certain parts of now Romania and Ukraine was Scythia.

1.3-Madai – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Madai was the son of Japheth and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. Madai is known to be the great ancestor of people belonging to the region which now forms Iran. The Medes were connected with Persians and later also settled into India.

1.4-Javan – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Javan was the son of Japheth and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. The Hebrew word for Greece is Javan.  Thereby we can confidentially say that Javan settled into Greece.

1.5-Meshech – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Meshech was the son of Japheth and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. For those who do not know, the historic name of Moscow was Meshesch.

1.6-Tubal – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Tubal was the son of Japheth and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. Tubal is still known as the name of the capital of the modern city of Georgia.

2-Ham – the son of Prophet Noah A.S

Ham is the son of Prophet Noah A.S. who was blessed with four sons whom he named as Cush, Mizraim, Phut, and Canaan.

2.1-Cush – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Cush was the son of Ham and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. The word Cush is the Hebrew word for Old Ethiopia. The word Chusites is used to refer to Ethiopians to this date as well.

2.2-Mizraim – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Mizraim was the son of Ham and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. The Hebrew word for Egypt is Mizraim

2.3-Phut – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Phut was the son of Ham and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. The Hebrew name of Libya is Phut. There was also a river Phut in Libya.

2.4-Canaan – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Canaan was the son of Ham and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. It is believed that Canaan settled into the regions which now form modern Israel and Jordan.

3-Shem – the son of Prophet Noah A.S

Shem is the son of Prophet Noah A.S. and he was blessed with five sons named as Elam, Asshur, Arphaxad, Lud, and Aram.

3.1 – Elam – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Elam was the son of Shem and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.  The ancient and historic name of Iran is Persia while the historic name of Persia is Elam. The Persian Jews were called Elamites at the Pentecost.

3.2 – Asshur – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Asshur was the son of Shem and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. The Hebrew word for Assyria is Asshur. One of the great empires in history was Assyria. Assyria is rooted in Asshur when referred to in the Old Testament.

3.3 – Arpphaxed – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Arphaxad was the son of Shem and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. He is referred to as the founder of Chaldea.

3.4 – Lud – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Lud was the son of Shem and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. Lydia was once the name of the region that now forms part of Western Turkey. Lud was the ancestor of people of Lydia or the Lydians.

3.5 – Aram – the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S.

Aram was the son of Shem and the grandson of Prophet Noah A.S. The Hebrew word for Syria is Aram. In the Old Testament, you would observe that the translation of word Syria is Aram. Moreover, the people of Syria are known as Arameans while their language is known as Armani.
