A Saudi woman in her 20s shared a series of posts on her social media account against Prophet Muhammad ﷺ and his wife Khadija رضي الله عنها. She had deliberately used a vulgar and offensive tone to adhere to the subject.
Thus, Saudi Arabia’s General Authority of Media Regulation summoned the Saudi woman to post such content.
According to the Saudi prosecutor, the people who are involved in blasphemy and insulting Prophet Muhammad ﷺ could end up in jail for as long as 5 years and be charged with a hefty fine of SR 3 million.
According to the General Authority of Media Regulation, they supervise and monitor digital media. They have to ensure that the content being shared on different social media platforms is according to what has been approved by the Cabinet.
