What is qada time for Fajr, Duhr, Asr, Maghrib & Isha?

Allah ﷻ has set the timing for each prayer and it is our duty to pray before its qaza time. Ever wondered what is the qada time for Fajr, Duhr, Asr, Maghrib & Isha?

It is narrated in the Holy Quran: Establish regular prayers. Indeed, performing prayers is a duty of the believers at the appointed times. – An-Nisa 4:103

Qada time for Fajr prayer

The Qaza time for Fajr prayer is the sunrise which means that you should pray it before the sunrise.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said whoever could get one Rakat of the Fajr prayer before sunrise, he has got the fajr prayer. – Sahih al-Bukhari 579

Qada time for Duhr prayer

The Qaza time for Duhr prayer is until the Asr Adhan time. It should be kept in mind that Shafi, Hanbali, and Maliki offer Asr prayer as soon as it starts while Hanafi prays it a bit late. Therefore, the qada time for Duhr prayer would be the Adhan time for Shafis.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: The beginning of the time for the Zuhr prayer is when the sun passes the zenith, and the end of its time is when the time for Asr enters. – Jami` at-Tirmidhi 151

Qaza time for Asr prayer

The Qada time for Asr prayer is the sunset which means that you should pray it before the sunset.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said whoever could get one Rakat of the Asr prayer before sunset, he has got the Asr prayer. – Sahih al-Bukhari 579

Qada time for Maghrib prayer

The Qaza time for Maghrib prayer is the time when the sky becomes completely dark i.e. around 45 minutes after the sunset.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said the beginning of Maghrib is when the sunsets and the end of its time are when the twilight has vanished i.e. the horizon is invisible because of darkness. – Jami` at-Tirmidhi 151

Qaza time for Isha prayer

The qada time for Isha is until midnight. The night starts at Isha time and ends at Fajr time.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: The beginning of the time for Isha is when the horizon has vanished, and the end of its time is when the night is at its half. – Jami` at-Tirmidhi 151

  • Isha Time: 8:00 pm.
  • Fajr Time: 5:00 am.
  • Isha Qada time: 12:30 pm.

Qada time for Witr prayer

Witr is a wajib prayer which means leaving it without any excuse is sinful. The qaza time for Witr prayer is before Fajr starts.

Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: When Fajr begins, then every Salat of the night and Al-Witr have gone, so perform Al-Witr before Fajr begins. – Jami` at-Tirmidhi 469
