Allah has sent 124,000 Prophets out of which one was Hazrat Al-Yasa عليه السلام who was a Nabi from Bani Israel.

- Full Name: Al-Yasa Ibn Shaphat Ibn Adee Ibn Shutlam Ibn Ephraim Ibn Yusuf عليه السلام.
Prophet Al-Yasa Birth
Prophet Al-Yasa عليه السلام was born in 910 BC in present-day Jordan and died in 800 BC at the age of 110 years. He became the leader of Bani Israel after the death of Prophet Elias عليه السلام which was a very difficult time for them.

The name of Hazrat Al-Yasa عليه السلام has been mentioned 2 times in the Holy Quran.

Prophethood
During the last days of his life, Allah told Prophet Elias عليه السلام to make a man named Al-Yasa (Elisha) the next leader. Prophet Elias عليه السلام found Hazrat Al-Yasa عليه السلام plowing in a field and placed his cloak over his shoulders. He then left his family and friends to learn about Islam.
Death of Prophet Elias
Allah told Prophet Elias عليه السلام to travel to three places Bethel, Jericho, and the Jordan River before He took him up to heaven.
Prophet Ilyas عليه السلام visited all these places along with Prophet Al-Yasa عليه السلام and finally died at the Jordan river in 849 BC at the age of 51 years.
After his death, Prophet Elisha became the leader of Bani Israel and he was well-known both in the Kingdom of Israel and the Kingdom of Judah.
Miracle: purifying poisoned water
After this, Prophet Al-Yasa عليه السلام went to Jericho (a Palestinian city in the West Bank) which was surrounded by poisoned waters. He added salt to it and then told the people that God made the water safe for them to drink.
From that day on, no one died or became ill after drinking the water near Jericho.
Prophecy to several kings
When King Joram (9th King of Israel) went to war against the Moabites, they asked Prophet Al-Yasa عليه السلام to prophesy about the outcome. King Joram was the son of King Ahab who was the biggest enemy of Prophet Elias عليه السلام.
It seemed that he had developed good working relations with both the Kingdom of Judah and the Kingdom of Israel.
Prophet Al-Yasa Successor
Prophet Al-Yasa عليه السلام (Elisha) wanted a successor for Bani Israel with a calm personality. Thus one day, he requested his companions to get assembled.
He then told that he was looking for a successor who would preach the message of Allah and fulfills the following 3 conditions;
- He would fast in the daytime.
- Pass the night in prayers.
- Not be angry with anyone.
Upon hearing this, Prophet Dhul Kifl عليه السلام volunteered that he could be the next successor and would follow the conditions.
He asked thrice and repeated the condition of calmness and not getting angry. He accepted the conditions and thus after the death of Prophet Al-Yasa عليه السلام, Prophet Dhul Kifl عليه السلام was appointed as the prophet.
Prophet Al-Yasa Death
Prophet Al-Yasa عليه السلام became seriously ill in his old age, and he was visited by King Jehoash (12th King of Israel) who was upset at the fact that the Prophet was about to die.
He performed one last prophetic message and used a bow and arrow to illustrate the fact that King Jehoash was going to defeat the King of Aram in battle.
