How to change old Saudi driving license to new iqama?

If an expat has come to Saudi Arabia on a new iqama and already has a Saudi driving license on the old Iqama, he can simply change or renew it to the new Iqama.

If your old driving license is lost, you need to follow the process to get it re-issued before starting this process.

Required documents

In order to change the old driving license to a new Iqama in Saudi Arabia, an expat needs the following documents;

1. Muroor Appointment (explained below).
2. Saudi driving license + copy.
3. Old Iqama copy.
4. New Iqama + copy.
5. Payment of fee for Saudi Driving License.
6. Efada Medical Test report.
7. 2 passport-size photographs.
8. Copy of your Passport.
9. A filled form to change the driving license to a new iqama.

You can ask an agent sitting around the Muroor office to fill out the form to renew the driving license to a new iqama.

Muroor Appointment

In order to take appointment to change old Saudi driving license to new iqama;

• Log in to Absher https://www.absher.sa/
• Click on the “Appointments” tab.
• Select the “Traffic” option.
• Click on the “Proceed to Service” button.

On the next page;

• Click on the “Book New Appointment” button.
• Select: Replacement of Driving Licenses.
• Choose the region and city.
• Type of License: Private Driving License.
• Type of Issuance: Saudi Driving License.
• License Number: Iqama Number.
• Enter License Expiry Date.
• Country of Issuance: Saudi Arabia.
• Language: Arabic.
• Attach the old driving license from the front and back.

Pay the fee to transfer driving license to new Iqama

In order to pay the fee to change the driving license to a new Iqama through Al Rajhi bank;

• Download the Application through PlayStore or iTunes.
• Log in to your internet banking account.
• Select “Payments“.
• Press the “Government Payment” button.
• On the next page, select the following;
  • Services: Driving License.
  • Application Type: Issue License from Old License.
  • Transaction Type: Payment.
  • Beneficiary ID: Iqama Number.
  • License Type: Private. 
  • Duration: 2, 5, or 10 years.

Visit the traffic police station.

Once you have all the above-mentioned documents,

• Visit the traffic police station at the time of the appointment.
• Go to the Reception and present the above documents.
• He will send you to the Absher counter. Provide Absher password, and OTP sent to mobile phone and paid SR 10 with your MADA card.
• Pay SR 100/year fee for the period your license expires. For example, if the license has expired for two years, pay SR 200.
• You need to pay it using the same process explained in the previous heading. To pay SR 200, you can select a 5-year duration and pay the amount.
• Go back to the Reception to get a stamp on the documents.
• Then you must go to another counter to cancel the old driving license under the old iqama.
• Go to another counter to submit the final documents.
• The officer will print the new driving license within a few minutes and keep the old license.
