I know several expatriates who have spent many years in Saudi jails just because they are not able to pay off their debts. The Ministry of Interior has given an option to everyone to pay debts for prisoners who are involved in financial crimes through Absher.
You don’t need to know the prisoner to pay his or her debts through Absher as it is charity work and it can be done for anyone. Some scholars are of the opinion that Zakat can be spent to release prisoners from Jails under special conditions, but it is better if you consult with an Islamic scholar yourself.
You need to have an Absher account to pay debts for prisoners. If you don’t have an Absher account, you will have to register for it. The procedure to get you registered is explained in this link “How to register for Absher?”
Once the account is created, you need to login to it by entering your userID or Iqama number, password and the captcha code pay debts for prisoners through Absher. An SMS will be sent to your mobile number with an authentication code which you need to enter in the next screen. https://absher.sa
After the login, you will find plenty of options and icons on your screen from where you need to click on the “Services” button on the “My Services” to pay debts for prisoners through Absher.

On the next screen, you will have to enter the region for the prison, the nationality oft he prisoner, the gender and the marital status to pay debts for prisoners through Absher.
As per the parameters entered above, the system will fetch the information of all the prisoners who are in Jails. As you can see below, there are 29 male Pakistani prisoners in the jails of the Makkah region who are involved in financial cases. You can see the amount they have to pay and the remaining imprisonment term here.
In order to pay debts for prisoners through Absher, you need to note down the SADAD number of the prisoner and make the payment through your bank account.
You cannot transfer money through Absher platform, you have the right to choose the payment channel to transfer the requested amount using SADAD / bill number. The SADAD billing code for this service is 169.
