5 Rules for Iftar in Masjid-al-Haram, Makkah

The General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques has recently announced new regulations which would be implemented during the Holy Month of Ramadan.

Iftar Meals

The management of the Masjid al-Haram will distribute Iftar meals to the public containing dates and ZamZam water. The worshippers are allowed to bring their own food for Iftar as well.

No Distribution of Food

It has been clarified by the General Presidency of the Two Holy Mosques that the distribution of dates, water, and any other Iftar meal is prohibited in Masjid al-Haram and Masjid al Nabawi unless you take a permit for that.

Moreover, you cannot share your Iftar meals with those who are not your family members.

Don’t cause the delay in Salah

The gap between Adhan and Salah has been reduced by the Saudi government. The worshippers are advised to finish their Iftar meal as soon as possible and be in the queue to pray. In this way, they will not be the cause of the delay in Salah for others.

ZamZam water is not for Wudu

The director also added that many of the people perform ablutions or Wudu with the water of ZamZam which is an utter waste of the Holy Water and causes several Hazards.

Throw out your trash

All those visiting and praying in the mosques should also clean up after themselves to help promote the cleanliness of Mosques.

All visitors should throw their trash in the trash bags.  All visitors to the mosque are also requested to put their shoes only in the designated location.
