Islamic Meaning: Seeing the Sky in a Dream

Seeing a blue or black sky full of stars and galaxies at night could have many meanings and interpretations in Islam, as explained below.

According to Daniyal عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ and Islam, there are 7 skies and seeing yourself on each of them in a dream has a different meaning;

• 1st Sky: Death is near.
• 2nd Sky: Attaining knowledge and wisdom.
• 3rd Sky: Attaining honor and pride.
• 4th Sky: Being loyal to the King.
• 5th Sky: Face fear and threats.
• 6th Sky: Attaining Wealth and piousness.
• 7th Sky: Death is near.

Flying in the Sky

According to Ibn Sirin رحمة الله عليه, the most incredible dream interpreter of Islam, seeing yourself flying in the sky in a dream means that the dreamer will travel. The extent of traveling would depend upon the height of flying.

According to Jabar Maghrabi, رحمة الله عليه, going to the sky in a dream to never come back means that death is approaching. 

However, traveling to the sky in a straight direction to reach the sky means loss and sorrow.

If a person flies to the sky in a dream so much that he reaches the sky and is lost and unable to return, he shall die.

Rain from the Sky

Seeing the rain of honey from the sky in a dream means that the area’s people would be blessed with fortune, blessings, and wealth.

The rain of scorpions, snakes, or stones from the sky in the dream has an interpretation of the wrath of God.

The rain of jewels from the sky in a dream is a sign of colorful blessings and various sources of earning for the dreamer.

Falling from the sky to the earth in a dream means one shall get ill and sick and recover from it. Falling from the sky is a sign of the anger of the Almighty.

According to Ibn Sirin رحمة الله عليه, the most incredible dream interpreter of Islam, reveals that if the dreamer sees a rope hanging from the sky and the dreamer is holding it, then there is a promise/oath between the dreamer and the Almighty. For instance, if the dreamer is sick, he should ask the Almighty’s forgiveness to attain health.

Seeing angels coming down from the sky and passing by the dreamer in a dream means that doors of knowledge and wisdom will open for him.

Worshipping the sky in a dream means becoming an atheist or being astray from the religion.

According to Ibrahim Karmani, رحمة الله عليه, constructing a building in the sky in a dream is a sign of getting close to death or being handicapped in the future.

Seeing the doors of the sky open in a dream means that the dua (supplications) of the dreamer would be accepted.

Color of the Sky

According to Imam Jafar Sadiq رحمة الله عليه, the color of the sky in a dream also has an impact on its meaning;

• Green sky = Peace, happiness.
• White sky = sorrows and disease.
• Red sky = Wars, fights, and blood-shedding.
• Black sky = Distress.

Dream meaning by Prophet Muhammad

A Sahabi dreamed of a cloud that provided shade and dropped butter and honey, which people gathered. In the dream, Prophet Muhammad ﷺ ascended a rope from the earth to the sky, followed by three men.

Abu Bakr رضي الله عنه interpreted the dream as;

• the cloud represented Islam.
• the drops of honey and butter represented the sweetness of the Quran.
• The rope represented Truth, and Allah would raise those who follow it.
• Prophet Muhammad ﷺ confirmed Abu Bakr’s interpretation was partly correct.
