Islamic Meaning: Seeing a Cow/Bull in a drea

During the season of Eid ul Adha, many people see a cow or bull in a dream. Seeing yourself slaughtering a cow or bull in a dream has a special meaning in Islam, depending upon its color, such as white, black, or brown.

•  What does it mean to see a goat in a dream?

General Meanings

1- According to Ibn Sirin رحمة الله عليه, the greatest dream interpreter of Islam, seeing a healthy bull in a dream represents wealth, and a weaker cow signifies poverty.

2- Seeing a lot of bulls in a dream is a sign that he would have a lot of servants and maids for himself.

3- Talking with a cow in a dream is a sign of luxurious life.

Cow at Home

4- Seeing a bull getting out of one’s house means that Allah will open the doors of blessings and a better livelihood in that house.

5- If a cow enters the home suddenly in a dream, the dreamer will attain wealth.

Slaughtering a Cow

6- According to Jabar Maghrabi رحمة الله عليه, slaughtering a cow and then distributing its meat in a dream means that the dreamer would kill a wealthy and famous man.

7- Slaughtering a cow and eating its meat in a dream means killing the owner of the bull and then enjoying his wealth.

Meat of the Cow

8- According to Ibrahim Karmani رحمة الله عليه, a 16th-century scholar of Islam, seeing the tail of a bull at your house in a dream is a sign of increased wealth.

9- Seeing the meat of a bull in a dream means increasing wealth, while the cow’s skin represents savings.

10- According to Hafiz Muabbar رحمة الله عليه, purchasing the meat of a healthy cow means that the dreamer will marry a wealthy woman in the same year.

11- Eating the head of a bull or cow in the dream is interpreted as attaining wealth and blessings that year.

If the man sees that he has the shoulder of a cow or a goat, then it also means that he will find a woman.

Drinking the Mil of a Cow

12- According to Ibn Sirin رحمة الله عليه, the most incredible dream interpreter of Islam, seeing yourself milking a cow and drinking its milk in a dream has a meaning of increased wealth.

13- However, according to Hafiz Muabbar رحمة الله عليه, milking a cow and drinking its milk means that the dreamer will acquire wealth but will not be able to use his savings in life.

Sitting on a bull

14- According to Prophet Daniyal عليه السلام, sitting on a black bull in a dream means that the dreamer would get a profitable task from the government.

15- However, sitting on a yellow cow in a dream means that the dreamer would get sick.

16- Seeing yourself falling from a bull means the dreamer will face difficult days.

The Horns of the Cow

17- The dreamer would face losses if a bull hit you with its horns in a dream.

18- If your cow has more than two horns in a dream, it is a sign that the dreamer would make a profit.

19- Seeing your bull with less than two horns in a dream indicates incurring losses.

20- You will be humiliated in old age if you see a dream in which your head resembles a bull.

Fighting with a Cow

21- According to Ismail Asha’at رحمة الله عليه, fighting with a bull in a dream is a sign that one would fight with an influential person.

22- If a cow bites you in a dream, the dreamer’s family will cheat him financially or morally.  

23- Dreaming of a cow scratching someone is believed to indicate an illness.

Black Cow in a Dream

24- In dreams, a herd of well-fed black cows symbolizes many prosperous years.

25- Riding a black cow in a dream means money, good business, and dispelling of anxiety, sadness, loneliness, or distress.

The dream of the Egyptian King

26- Prophet Yusuf عليه السلام, a well-known prophet of Islam, has interpreted the meaning of cow in the dream as years.

Egyptian King: Rayan Ibn Waleed Ibn Tharwan Ibn Araasha Ibn Faraan Ibn Amro Ibn Amlaq Ibn Lud Ibn Shem Ibn Noah عليه السلام.

One day the Egyptian King said: I dreamt of 7 fat cows eaten up by 7 skinny ones, 7 green ears of grain, and 7 others dry. Tell me the meaning of such a dream if you can. – Yusuf 12:43

Ministers replied: These are confused visions and we do not know the interpretation of such dreams.

Finally, the surviving inmate remembered Prophet Yusuf عليه السلام and told the King that he could tell the meaning of the dream if they sent him to Yusuf.

Hazrat Yusuf عليه السلام interpreted the dream: You will plant grain for 7 consecutive years, leaving in the ear whatever you will harvest, except for the little you will eat. Then, after that will come 7 years of great hardship, which will consume whatever you have saved, except the little you will store ˹for seed˺. Then after that will come a year in which people will receive abundant rain and they will press ˹oil and wine˺.” – Yusuf 12:47
