Seeing a dream of being a blind person or meeting someone blind has a special meaning in Islam. Here is the interpretation of dreams related to blindness;
According to Ibn Sirin رحمة الله عليه, the greatest dream interpreter of Islam, seeing yourself being blind in a dream means that;
- Full Blind: Going against the teachings of Islam.
- Blind with one eye: Committing a major sin.
Experiencing blindness in a dream symbolizes disaster, accident, misfortune, sadness, injury, sorrow, and distress.
Seeing oneself blind in a dream signifies debts owed or a pilgrimage that needs to be made.
According to Ibrahim Karmani رحمة الله علي, holding the hand of a blind and going with him is a sign of getting astray.
According to Jabir Magrabi رحمة الله علي, making someone blind in a dream means that the dreamer will take the other person from the righteous path.
According to Jafar Sadiq رحمة الله علي, if a blind person sees himself gaining sight in a dream, then worldly affairs would become easy for him. His disappointments would turn into his happiness.
If a blind man dreams of himself in new clothes, it signifies death.
Imam Al-Junayyid and a blind man
Imam Al-Junayyid reported that he once sat by his doorstep. A blind man who was asking people to help him passed by him. Al-Junayyid said to himself: “If this man trusted in Allah and sat at the entrance of a mosque, Allah would surely provide for him without his asking.”
Al-Junayyid continued: “That night, a copper tray was placed before me in a dream, and that blind man was laid on it.”
Shaikh Sa’adu-Deen and a blind man
A blind man from Syria approached Shaikh Sa’adu-Deen Al-Dharir and shared, “I had a dream where I wore a burning shoe that scorched my ankles.”
The Shaikh responded, “Come closer so I can explain the dream’s significance.”
As the Shaikh grasped the man’s arm, he suddenly called out for those nearby to apprehend the man and notify the police.
Upon investigation, it was revealed that this man had been stealing shoes from the mosque’s entrance, a crime he admitted to, prompting people to visit his home to reclaim their belongings.
