Masjid e Aisha is a beautifully constructed mosque a few kilometers from the Masjid Al Haram. It is one of the most frequently visited Ziyarat places in Makkah.
The people of Makkah mainly refer to it as Masid e Aisha, but few call it Masjid Taneem and Masjid Umrah.
Is masjid ayesha a Miqat?
People living in Makkah need to go outside the boundaries of Makkah Haram to wear Ihram to perform Umrah. The exact requirement applies to pilgrims who come from around the world to Makkah when they want to perform a second Umrah.
If you check the location of Masjid Aisha, it is located just outside the boundaries of Haram, Makkah, and therefore, it is considered a Miqat for those Makkah residents.
How do I get there?
One can reach Masjid-e-Aisha very easily by Local buses. You can easily find a local bus from Bab-e-Fahad of Masjid Haram. These buses will take you to the masjid in about 15 minutes.
If you hire a taxi for the very reason, it will charge you 5 times for the local bus! (if a bus charges 4 Riyals, a taxi is likely to charge 20 Riyals).
Why is it called Masjid Aisha?
When Prophet Muhammad ﷺ was coming for Hajj along with other Sahaba, they performed Umrah before Hajj. However, Aisha رضي الله عنه could not perform Umrah as she was having her periods.
Once she got purified and could perform Umrah, she told Prophet Muhammad ﷺ with her desire to perform Umrah. The Prophet ﷺ told her to go outside Makkah and enter Ihram.
She was guided to go to Taneem to enter the ihram. And that explains why people of Makkah go this mosque to wear Ihram and why it is called Masjid e Aisha. – Sahih al-Bukhari 1787
