Saudi Arabia has announced a special four-day holiday commemorating its 94th National Day on September 23, 2024. This year’s National Day falls on a Monday, allowing for an extended weekend from Friday through Monday for the entire nation to revel in the celebrations.
Public Sector Employees
All public sector employees (Saudis and expats) will enjoy a four-day holiday on Saudi National Day. Their long weekend will start on Friday, September 20, 2024, and extend until Monday, September 23, 2024, making it possible to partake in an extensive celebration of the country’s accomplishments.
Article 128 of the Executive Regulations for Human Resources in the Civil Service states: “If one working day falls between two official holidays, this day shall be an official holiday.”
Private Sector Employees
The private sector employees will only have a one-day holiday on September 23rd, 2024. They will have to report to work on Sunday.
Overtime
We take this opportunity to educate the people working in Saudi Arabia that every employee is entitled to the national day off on 23rd September.
However, if your company cannot grant you a holiday on National Day, you are entitled to either a compensatory off day or overtime at 50% above the wage rate.
