Masjid-al-Haram Makkah is the biggest mosques in the World. It is said that around 30,000 green carpets cover the area around the grand Holy mosque and the city of Makkah with the total length of almost 100 kilometers.
Special attention is paid to the cleanliness of this mosque because people from around the world visit this Holy mosque to offer their religious obligations, these carpets are cleaned on regular basis.
King Salman bin Abdul Aziz, the custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, emphasize to pay special attention to the cleanliness and demands that the carpets of the Holy mosque should be cleaned so that pilgrims can enjoy and can perform their religious duties in a satisfying and pleasant environment.
There is a complete department or warehouse for the carpets cleaning. The carpets are sent there for cleaning and it passes through five major stages before it gets perfectly clean. Now we will tell you the procedure how the carpets of Holy Mosque are cleaned every day.
1-Dust removal process: First of all the dust is removed from these carpets using high-tech machines.
Thousands of people daily visit the holy mosque and it is not wrong to say that the carpet attracts a lot of dust and dirt that should be cleaned every day.
2-Washing and rinsing: After removing the dust from the carpets they are then washed with detergents and disinfectants.
The carpets are then rinsed and placed on a moving bridge. All this washing and rinsing process is done by a machine and does not require any human labor.
3-Drying process: This process requires human labor after the carpets are dried at the rate of three carpets, every minute and a half, the labor or workers spread the carpets under the sun for one full day in summer and two days in winter.
This will not only help the carpets to dry but sun rays also help to eliminate or kill all the germs from them.
4-Cleaning: The carpets are again cleaned with brooms to make sure that no dust particles are left behind on them.
5-Sprayed with rose water: Finally, when the carpets are said to be perfectly cleaned, completing all the process of cleaning and sanitizing, then they are sprayed with a rose solution so that they could smell pleasant.
The supervisor of the carpet cleaning process and the warehouse, Mohammad al-Otabi said that every day, nearly 200 carpets are received by the warehouse for cleaning and their trained worker sort them, clean them properly and maintain them occasionally.
