Taif
Taif is probably the most popular hill station in the Kingdom. The city of Taif is located on a drive of only 1 hour from Makkah, and therefore many pilgrims also visit there.
Some religious historical sites in Taif attract Muslims from all around the world and especially those who come to perform Hajj and Umrah.
Abha – Jabal Sawda
The most famous hill station in Saudi Arabia is Abha as it hosts the highest point of the country Jabal Sawda. Jabal Sawda has been claimed to have an elevation of 3,015 meters above sea level.
The beauty of Jabal Sawda is literally beyond imagination. The mountains are bounded by valleys, small villages, and lush green landscapes, and many five-star hotels located beside the mountains attract tourists.
Remember to wear your warm clothes even if you are visiting Jabal Sawda or Abha in the summer.
Jizan
Jizan is probably the most beautiful hill station in Saudi Arabia as it hosts the Fayfa mountain, Qayyar village, and Wadi Lajab. The best time to visit the beauty of Jizan is during the winter season. In summer, it is hot and humid, making it challenging to breathe in the open air, let alone do hiking or other stuff.
Najran
Najran is another hill station in Saudi Arabia, but it is not popular due to a lack of amenities. People who want to see the raw beauty of the country head towards Najran.
There is a popular place in Najran which is discussed in the Holy Quran where 20,000 Christians Ashab-ul-Ukhdud (أَصْحَـٰبُ ٱلْأُخْدُودِ) were burnt alive.
Tabuk
If you think about snowfall in Saudi Arabia, the first hill station that comes to your mind is Tabuk. People rush to visit the beauty of Tabuk in winter especially when it is covered with the white carpet of snow.
Tabuk is the home of many historical and tourist places, such as
- The castle 🏰 of أَصْـحَـاب الْأَيْـكَـة as mentioned in Quran.
- House 🏘️ of Prophet Shoaib عَلَيْهِ ٱلسَّلَامُ.

- Golden Calf 🐮- the place where Bani Israel was required to kill 600,000 who started worshipping a cow idol.

Al Baha
Al Baha is another popular hill station in the Asir region. This area is full of mountains and green plains. I think the best time to visit Al Baha is in the winter as it is pretty cloudy in that weather. In winter, it becomes difficult to drive in the clouds in Abha.
However, Al Baha is not that cold during summer, so people head towards other hill stations during hot months.
Al Namas
If you are traveling from Al Baha to Abha, you can visit Namas and Tanoumah on the way. It is worth staying there for a night as the city is entirely of raw and natural beauty.
However, the only problem is that there are not many good hotels there, so tourists avoid staying at night in this beautiful hill station of Saudi Arabia.
