Islamic Meaning: Seeing Quran in a Dream

Seeing a dream where you are reciting, reading, hearing, or holding the verses (ayat) of the Holy Quran has a special meaning in Islam.

Holding the Quran

1- Seeing yourself holding the Quran in a dream means that the dreamer can demonstrate his logical thinking to influence others’ points of view. This kind of person has the skills to convince others of his viewpoint.

2- The Islamic interpretation of seeing a dream in which the dreamer holds the Quran but then someone takes it away is that he will be deprived of his knowledge and no longer active in this world.

3- If someone dreams about stealing the Holy Quran, it may indicate that they will forget to pray.

4- Holding the Quran as a pillow in a dream indicates a lack of respect for the Holy Book, despite the Prophet’s warning against doing so.

5- Seeing a dream where you kiss the Quran while holding it with your hands means that the dreamer will fulfill all his duties.

Reciting the Holy Quran

6- According to Ibn Sirin رحمة الله عليه, the most incredible dream interpreter of Islam, seeing yourself reciting some verses of the Holy Quran in a dream has different meanings depending upon the ayat you are reading;

  • If the verses are related to rahma, one should offer sadaqah.
  • If the ayat are related to the anger of Allah, Tawbah is required.

7- According to Ibrahim Karmani رحمة الله عليه, a 16th-century scholar of Islam, if one sees that he has read half of the Quran in a dream, it means that he has spent almost half of his life.

8- According to Jabar Maghrabi رحمة الله عليه, if one sees that he has recited the full Quran in a dream,  it means that his good wishes will come true. In the opinion of some scholars, it also means that the person is almost at the last stage of his life.

9- Seeing yourself reading the Holy Quran without understanding it, is an indication that upcoming shock or sorrow.

10- The Islamic interpretation of reciting the Quran in a dream with proper understanding is the dreamer’s desire to seek knowledge of the Quran.

11- If you dream of seeing yourself reading the Quran without wearing clothes or being naked, it signifies that the dreamer is whimsical.

12- A sick person reading the Holy Quran in a dream means that the person will recover from the sickness.

13- Dreaming of reading the holy Quran and adding personal words signifies deviating from the truth or breaking a promise.

14- If a non-Muslim dreams of reading the Holy Quran, it signifies that;

  • The verses of admonition will guide him.
  • The verses of punishment will warn him,
  • The parables will prompt him to reflect on their meaning.

Memorizing the Quran

15- Seeing that you have memorized the Holy Quran (Hafiz Quran) in a dream represents the dreamer’s honesty.

16- A person with a poor memory managing to memorize the Holy Quran in a dream signifies that the dreamer will be appointed to a high position of authority in the government.

17- Reciting the Quran from memory in a dream signifies truthfulness, piety, and promoting good while preventing evil.

Listening to Quran

18- Listening to the Holy Quran in a dream can enhance authority, lead to a beautiful end, and provide protection against all kinds of intrigues.

Eating the Quran

19- A person who sees himself licking the Quran in a dream shows that the person has committed a major sin.

20- Seeing yourself eating pages of the Holy Quran in a dream shows that one tends to earn a livelihood through the knowledge of the Quran.

Writing the Quran

21- Writing the Quran on a piece of cloth in a dream shows that the person interprets the Quran according to his wishes.

22- If he writes Quranic verses on the sand, then it indicates that he is an atheist.

Buying/Selling Quran

23- Buying a Quran in a dream signifies that the dreamer’s religious knowledge will expand, benefiting others.

24- Selling a Quran in a dream suggests the dreamer may indulge in sins and abominations.

Burning the Quran

25- Burning the Holy Quran in a dream indicates a potential loss of religious faith for the dreamer.

26- Tearing or destroying the Holy Quran in a dream signifies that the dreamer negates its sanctity.
