How to register a drone license in Saudi Arabia?

You are allowed to fly drones for recreational and commercial purposes in Saudi Arabia after taking a GACA permit.

Rules to take a drone permit

You are allowed to fly a drone up to 250 grams for recreational purposes against a license fee of SR 250 in Saudi Arabia. In the case of heavier drones, a commercial registration is required for SR 500. There are some rules to follow;

• do not fly higher than 120 meters (400 feet).
• keep a distance of 8 kilometers from airfields.
• give priority to other aircraft.
• do not fly over bystanders or private premises.
• only fly within line of sight.
• only fly during the day.
• do not control the drone under the influence of intoxicants.

Apply for a drone license

Step 1: Registration

In order to apply for a permit to fly a drone in Saudi Arabia, you have to follow 4 steps.

• Open: https://uas.gaca.gov.sa/uas
• Click on “National Single Sign-on“.
• Now you will be redirected to the GACA website.
• Click on the “Proceed” button.

Step 2: Account Creation

In the next step, the system will automatically fetch your name and DOB;

• Select the Title.
• Enter your Email and Mobile Number.
• Country: Saudi Arabia.
• District: Region.
• Select your City.

GACA will send you an email to confirm the creation of the account.

Step 3: Register a drone

Now at this step to apply for a drone license in Saudi Arabia, you need to register your drone with GACA;

• Click on “Register New Drone“.
• Select “Recreational“.
• Fill out the form.
• Pay the drone registration fee: SR 250.
• Drone registration guidelines.
• It might take up to 6 months for drone registration.

Step 4: Request the license

After the successful registration of your drone, you need to apply for a license to fly in Saudi Arabia;

• Select “My Licenses“.
• Click on “Request Permit“.
• Select “Recreational“.
• Click on “Proceed to form“.
• Fill out the form.
• Upload the Iqama copy.
• Submit the application.

You will get the license to fly a drone in Saudi Arabia within a week from GACA.
