A very common question that most married couple often asks is, does kissing and hugging break the fast? can you kiss or hug your wife while fasting in Ramadan?
Can you kiss and hug your wife while fasting?
It is totally fine if husband and wife kiss or hug each other while fasting during Ramadan. But they should control themselves and not go beyond that as intercourse or ejaculation of sperm breaks your fast.
However, if there are chances that they would not be able to control themselves, it is better to restrain from kissing and hugging your wife to avoid putting your fast at risk.
Does kissing or hugging break your fast?
Kissing and Hugging your wife is absolutely fine and it does not break your fast. In fact, it is evident from different Hadith that Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to kiss and hug her wives while fasting during Ramadan.
Aisha رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ said: Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to kiss me when he was fasting and when I was fasting. – Sunan Abi Dawud 2384
Aisha رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ said: Prophet Muhammad ﷺ used to kiss and embrace (his wives) while he was fasting, and he had more power to control his desires than any of you. – Sahih al-Bukhari 1927
Omar bin Khattab رَضِيَ ٱللَّٰهُ عَنْهُ asked Prophet Muhammad ﷺ: I have done a big deed; I kissed while I was fasting. Prophet Muhammad ﷺ said: What do you think if you rinse your mouth with water while you are fasting? – Sunan Abi Dawud 2385
It is clear from the reference to Hadith given above that kissing your wife, hugging her, and playing with her does not break your fast as long as you keep yourself under control. Subhan Alla!
