Urooj was born to a Sunni mother and Shia Father
Shia and Sunni have always remained two prominent sects in our religion Islam. Marrying a partner out of your sect is always a struggle, but when it comes to Sunni mother and Shia father, life is full of problems for the kids. They always remain baffled between the traditions of the two sects.
There are many misconceptions about Shia Muslims. Today I am going to summarize a short story of a Pakistani blogger Urooj Fatima who was born to a Shia father and a Sunni mother. Urooj expressed her feelings saying that she was born to a Sunni mother and Shia father.
Differences between Shia and Sunni Muslims
The first strange thing in her life was to hear the Adhan of both sects. From her childhood to her youth, she grew up observing her parents practicing different concepts in one religion “Islam”.
At very first, she was taught the ablution and Salah in two different ways that are Sunni and Shia Salah.
She was made to read the Quran twice from each sect’s molvi. Indeed it was difficult for her, children at this age might get puzzled between what is right and wrong. Her mother would teach her one thing saying it is correct and later his father would teach the same concept in Shia context declaring it was right.
Her grandmother would sing lullabies to her while her father would recite: Ya Allah Ya Nabi, Ya Ali, Ya Fatima, Ya Hassan, Ya Hussain at night. She grew up in confusion.
Discrimination among Sunni community
Her age fellow girls used to avoid eating and drinking with her because she was a Shia. This made her aggressive and she hid her cast. She detested majalis and turned far away from the core practices of her Shiasm.
Seeing the hatred in people’s sight about Shia, she became aggressive with her father relatives because they were Shia. She hated being a member of the Shia family. Recommended: How Shia Muslims are treated in Saudi Arabia?
Urooj changed her mind and converted to Shiasm
One day, in 2010, Allah destined her to change her thoughts about Shiasm when she was forced by her father to visit a Majalis. Urooj said that it was then she flipped and wanted to dig her nails into her brain for ignoring Muharram throughout my life.
A message for the Sunni Community
We should stop posting bad comments about Shia in the Holy Month of Muharram. It was the prophet Muhammad S.A.W, who used to say Ali is from me and I am from Ali. It is a Hadith, whoever loves Ali has loved me and whoever hates Ali has hated me.
Muslims change your mind about Shiasm and Muharram. Hassan R.A and Hussain R.A were the son of Ali R.A and beloved to the Holy Prophet.
