How the Hoors (Houris) in Jannah will look like? Quran & Hadith

Every Muslim man will get married to Hoors: All of us know that Allah has promised to reward Muslim men with Hoors in Jannah. Muslim men who will be obeying orders of Allah in this world and performing all the religious duties will be married with Hoors. What would Muslim women get in Jannah? It is a question we have already answered.

A question arises in everyone’s mind, how would the hoors look like? Believe me, I cannot explain and you cannot imagine how would they look like. If Allah has promised it as a special reward, it must be something special. Here I will try to explain what has been given in the Quran and Hadith about Hoors.

Hoors will have big dark Eyes: Allah praises the beauty of Hoors with their big dark eyes. Subhan Allah! You can imagine if Allah is praising it, how beautiful that eye would be.

  • Thus (it will happen,) and We will marry them with houris having big dark eyes. – Quran 44:54
  • And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious) – Quran 56:22

Hoors are untouched pious women: Hoors are the wives of Muslim men in Jannah. Allah has created and kept them for Muslim men in a way that man or Jinn has ever touched them. Subhan Allah! They are pious women waiting for their husbands. Allah explains in Surah Rahman.

In them are women limiting [their] glances, untouched before them by man or jinni – Quran 55:56

They are so Transparent that their Bone marrow can be seen: Allah has made them so transparent that their bone marrow can be seen from their bodies. As I said earlier, the human brain cannot even imagine that beauty.

Narrated Abu Huraira: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Everyone will have two wives from the houris, (who will be so beautiful, pure and transparent that) the marrow of the bones of their legs will be seen through the bones and the flesh.” –  Sahih al-Bukhari 3254

The Head Cover of the Hoor is better than the Entire World: Once again, the beauty of Hoors is explained in a beautiful way.

And if a houri from Paradise appeared to the people of the earth, she would fill the space between Heaven and the Earth with light and pleasant scent and her head cover is better than the world and whatever is in it.” – Sahih al-Bukhari 2796

The Hoors are loving and caring: When Allah has said that they will be our loyal wives, there is no point to think twice. But this particular Hadith explains they will be loving and caring wives.

Mu'adh bin Jabal (May Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (ﷺ) said, “Whenever a woman harms her husband in this world (that is without any due right), his wife among the (Houris in Jannah) says: ‘You must not harm him. May Allah destroy you! He is only a passing guest with you and is about to leave you to come to us“. – Tirmidhi Book 1, Hadith 287

Allah has Promised Hoors if you control your Anger: If you control your anger for the sake of Allah, Allah has promised Hoors for you in the life hereafter.

It was narrated from Sahl bin Mu’adh bin Anas, from his father, that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “Whoever restrains his anger when he is able to implement it, Allah will call him before all of creation on the Day of Resurrection, and will give him his choice of any houri that he wants.” Sunan Ibn Majah Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4186

Muslim Men will have 72 Wives in Jannah: There are weak Hadiths which state that there will be 72 wives of Muslim men in Jannah. It should be noted that the number has been quoted from a weak hadith but the fact that there will be Hoors is proven from Quran and Sahi Hadiths.

It was narrated from Abu Umamah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “There is no one whom Allah will admit to Paradise but Allah will marry him to seventy-two wives, two from houris and seventy from his inheritance from the people of Hell, all of whom will have desirable front passages and he will have a male member that never becomes flaccid (i.e., soft and limp) – Sunan Ibn Majah Vol. 5, Book 37, Hadith 4337
