The first Hindu Stone Temple in UAE to be built by 2020

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi officially launched the foundation stone-laying ceremony of the first stone temple on Sunday in Abu Dhabi, the capital of UAE.

Modi witnessed the revolutionary ceremony which was live streamed in Dubai Opera house. The P.M of India addressed with his people too.

The temple which will be completed in 2020, is said to be the first Hindu temple to be built in UAE, the home of almost 3 million Indians.

This temple will be open to the people of every religious background. By 2020 UAE, will be hosting the first traditional Hindu stone temple in the Middle East as well as in Arab World.

Temple artisans will be called from India to build, craft and carve the temple. Temple stonework will be hand carved by the Indian artists assembled in UAE.

The architecture will be inspired by the Akshardham Temple in New Delhi and the one which is under construction in New Jersey. The architecture will replicate these two temples. This temple will be built just off the Dubai- Abu Dhabi highway.

It will include a prayer hall for the visitors, exhibition, learning areas, sports area for children, thematic garden, water landscape and a bookshop.

The BAPS (Bochasanwasi Akshar Purushottam Sanstha) Swami Narayan Sanstha is delegated to design, construct and manage this first ever Hindu temple by the rulers of the UAE and the Government of India.

The BAPS is a social-spiritual Hindu Organization and it runs more than 11,000 temples around the world. The temple will be built on 55,000 square meters of land.

The land for the temple is gifted by the Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi, Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed al-Nahyan to the Indian P.M. to build the stone temple.

This temple will facilitate the traditional practice of the Hindu faith and will serve over 3.3 million Indians living in UAE and the millions of other international tourists annually visit UAE through interfaith dialogue, pluralism, and universal human values, said the spokesman of the BAPS.

It is important to mention here that the total population of the UAE is just 9.27 million out of which 3.3 million are Indians. Indians represent more 35% of the total population of the UAE.

In fact, out of 9.27 million, only 1.4 million are Emiratis and the remaining population consists of expatriates from all around the world. The UAE market is majorly dominated by the Indians.

He further said It will also raise the Hindu children of today and future generations towards a brighter future.”

Narendra Modi visited UAE for the second time after his 2015 trip. He visited Dubai for the sixth edition of the World Government summit which was set to happen in Dubai.

The temple community presented the temple Literature to the Crown Price of UAE. It will include all aspects and features of a traditional Hindu temple and will also include social, cultural and spiritual aspects.
