After marriage, every couple desires to have kids but unfortunately, some couples are not lucky enough to be blessed with it. Their lives are empty because of this missing piece. There is a sad story of a similar couple who had been in a marriage for 13 years and had no kids, reported in a daily newspaper of Jeddah.
Anwar was a 29-year-old Saudi woman, who used to dream for a baby who would fill her empty life with happiness and joy but suddenly the dream of Anwar was finished forever. Saleh-Al-Qabdah, a depressed husband, stated that after completing 13 years of marriage, they both planned to go for a test tube baby.[irp]
They visited a famous clinic located in Jeddah who was specialized in the infertility treatment. According to the husband, the gynecologist gave his wife injections which activated and made the ovaries large but all this treatment was done without any diagnosis or preliminary tests.
After injections, the condition of his wife was getting bad but the concerned doctor did not pay any attention. One evening, suddenly his wife went into the state of coma. He took his wife to a nearby government hospital located in Makkah.
The doctors said that his wife just had two strokes in her brain and one in the lung. Later on, his wife was under artificial life support system. After 10 days of fighting with life, his wife died with a keen desire of having a baby. His wife was under the treatment of a test-tube baby which was the cause of three strokes which took her life forever.
Saleh -Al-Qabdah said that the authorities should stop the concerned doctor from treating any more patients. Saleh claimed that the doctor is responsible for all the medical mishap which resulted in the death of his wife.
He is not in need of any kind of financial compensation for the unexpected loss of his wife. Now, he just wants his wife back or punishment to the doctor, no blood money, and compensation other than this. Careless treatment and medical errors are a cause of his wife’s death.
Saleh reported complaining about this serious medical error to the Committee of Forensic Medical located at the General Court in Jeddah. He also forwarded the case to the Ministry of Health which composed a committee to investigate and get a charge against the doctor for the unbearable mistake.
According to the committee investigation, the patient did not get essential lab tests or X-rays done which is required and there was an overdose of the medicine prescribed by the doctor. Saleh Al-Qabdah demands justice and appealed the ministry of health to take serious action against the responsible doctor.
The husband said that because of the lack of doctor’s attention and medical negligence, there is a great question mark on him and for everyone which made his life painful and distressing. Although after the official notice, the doctor is continuing his practice in the clinic.
We hope that there are no such case reports in future and pray that ALLAH gives Saleh Al-Qabdah patience and justice (Ameen).
