7 Unknown Facts about the Meaning of Pakistani Flag

The national flag of Pakistan was adopted on the 11th of August, 1947 at a Constituent Meeting which was held just three days before Pakistan’s independence which was on the 14th of August, 1947. This is when it became the official flag of the Dominion of Pakistan.

1-The flag is designed in two colors which are green and white and it has a five-rayed star along with a crescent made on it as well. The green color on this flag depicts Islam as green is also used to describe the heavens, in Quran and it was also the favorite color of Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and his daughter Fatima. The white color on this flag shows the small religious groups and other several minority religions.

2-The crescent represents progress and development whereas the five-rayed star depicts light and extreme knowledge. In the national anthem of Pakistan, this flag is mentioned as the Flag of the crescent and star.

3-This flag was designed by none other than Amiruddin Kidwai and it is based on the flag of All India Muslim League.

4-The Pakistani flag is flown on various important days of the year such as the Independence Day or the Republic Day or even in schools, colleges, and offices every morning as the national anthem is sung in high voices. This flag is then lowered at the time of sunset.

5-The full mast flying days of the Pakistani flag are only three. First on the 23rd of March which is Pakistan Day, second on the 14th of August which is Pakistan’s Independence Day and lastly, on the 25th of December which is the birthday of the founder of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah.

6-The half-mast flying days of the Pakistan flag are two. The first is the death anniversary of the national poet of Pakistan, Mr. Muhammad Iqbal which is on the 21st of April and lastly on the death anniversary of the founder and father of this nation, Mr. Muhammad Ali Jinnah which is on the 11th September.

7-This flag should never touch the ground and should always be flown either on the same height or higher if flown with other flags, never lower! The flag can only be flown by the people listed below:
