Right at the top of Mohammed Al Isa’s Instagram account was the following tagline “one day the blind will see the mark I leave, and the deaf will hear my tale.”
Little did he know while posting this on Instagram that this would be the last upload of his life, and the words which he had just written will come to life? Now the blind can see his legacy and the deaf can hear his story.
Mohammed Al-Isa gave up his life to protect worshippers. Mohammed did not run away or abandon his post when he saw a suicide bomber wearing a belt of explosives; instead, he jumped on him which caused him to detonate prematurely hence saving countless lives.
Mohammed did this because he believed in humanitarianism, something which set him apart from the rest of us. Some may not have believed his mindset during his life, but his death has silenced all, except for his legacy which speaks now louder than ever.
Even though his body could be seen being lifted by paramedics and later wrapped up in white cloth, even though his body is no longer in this world, his actions have ensured that his legacy and memory stay with us, in our memories forever.
In the future whenever we will hear a story of self-sacrifice to help others Mohammed will come to mind. Just a few days before he heroically saved a mosque and worshippers from a suicide attack, he had celebrated his high school graduation.
He had planned to visit London to improve upon his English proficiency skills and wanted to continue education. Mohammed’s mother wrote about him, and his life before the attack to allow people to understand who her son was, and to probably help share the grief that she was experiencing.
His mother describes him as a good-natured sweet boy whose heart was pure. She added that even as a child he never screamed or threw tantrums for things like ice cream or sweets, during his youth he enjoyed eating just plain bread, something which she did not understand.
Now, however, she thinks that his behavior as a child was an indication that his time on this earth would be brief and transient. As Mohammed grew up, his ambitions and dreams grew with him.
He was a people’s person, who always like being around others and loved to help them. At every social and religious event, he would be at the forefront as a volunteer and would work hard in ensuring everything goes smoothly.
In school, none of the teachers had any complaints against the boy, he was always observed to be patient and kind with the teachers and the other staff at the school. He took interest in the actual studying and his grades reflected so.
His mother said that in her view, her son had set an example for the young people of the Kingdom and that people should live their life instead of waiting for the right time.
The mother of Mohammed Al-Isa, Madam Kawthar Al-Arbash has been named along 29 other Saudi women as a new member of the Kingdom’s reformed Shoura Council.
