As the emperor, Julius Caesar once said: “I love the name of honor, more than I fear death”. This is a quote which should be applied to each one of our daily lives. It is also a great honor and a matter of great pride when the younger generation in a country display great courage and defy death to help others in need. Such a case happened in Saudi Arabia some time back. Two Saudi teens successfully saved the life of a very little boy who was stuck inside a house which had caught fire. Kabar newspaper showed a two-minute video which showed the two young boys who climbed up to the second floor via the ledges on the outside of the building and then proceeded to hit the window to break it and get the kid who was stuck inside, to safety.[irp]
Towards the end of the video, one of the young teens managed to break down one window and swiftly picked up the little kid, who was carefully handed down to other teenage boys who had lined up to help the two first responders. The other teens set up ladders near the window to safely escort the child to safety, the paper stated that it was indeed a heroic deed that had been done by the two Saudi teens, who managed to save the life of a little child. The paper also stated that two men of the civil defense unit were injured while trying to extinguish the flames that had caught hold of the house in the western Red Sea Port near Jeddah. Jeddah is the 2nd largest city in the Kingdom after its capital Riyadh.
The fire was reportedly caused by an explosion in either the gas pipeline or a gas cylinder. However, the teens were successful in breaking the window and taking the boy out of harm’s way, who was then lowered down by the help of ladders. The Late King Abdullah, who was the Saudi Arabian monarch at the time, decided to award both the teenagers with around SAR 1 million or $266,667, according to various reports. This was an extremely well-deserved reward as the teens had not only saved a life but had shown more courage and honor than many grown men, who claim to be pretty braver
At this point, it is also important to remember the two brave men who got injured while fighting the fire, as their courage is commendable. The two teenagers, who risked their lives to save an unknown child, wherever they may be now, are the pride and joy of the whole Kingdom of Saudi Arabia as such an honorable and courageous youth will only spell out progress and success for the whole Kingdom in the years to come.[irp]
These young men have set an example of how all men must protect others. “You will never do anything in this world without courage. It is the greatest quality of the mind next to honor”. Aristotle
