The Kingdom of Saudi Arabia never fails to surprise. This time around now, the new surprise has revealed itself to the public. For the past year, there has been a big hustle and bustle about the Haramain trains that will finally start operations next week
The Haramain trains are packed with the state of the art that will open a whole new era for the transportation sector in the Kingdom.
One of the most difficult thing that the people who travel as pilgrims to the Kingdom have to face is excessive traveling. With the extreme climates and changing cities from Jeddah to Makkah to Madina frequently, it does not only waste much of their precious time but also exhausts them and their pockets.
The cost of the ticket: It would cost in the range of SR 0.33 to SR 0.55 a kilometer for second and first class tickets respectively on the high-speed Haramain train, according to Saudi Gazette. It also means that the ticket cost would be as follows;
01-One Way Economy Class train ticket from Makkah to Madina will cost passengers SR 75
02-One Way Business Class train ticket from Makkah to Madina will cost passengers SR 125
03-One Way Economy Class train ticket from Jeddah to Madina will cost passengers SR 63
04-One Way Economy Class train ticket from Makkah to Jeddah will cost passengers SR 20
05-One Way Business Class train ticket from Makkah to Jeddah will cost passengers SR 25
06-One Way Economy Class train ticket from Jeddah to Rabigh will cost passengers SR 23
07-One Way Economy Class train ticket from Rabigh to Madina will cost passengers SR 50

300 kilometers per hour: To make their life simpler, the government of Saudi Arabia will soon launch the Haramain trains that will travel at 300 kilometers per hour linking all the important cities of the Kingdom.
The Haramain High-Speed Train has very powerful engines. It can travel at a speed of 300Km/hour. The speed of 300 Km/hour means that it can travel from Makkah to Madina and from Madina to Makkah in the time duration of 90 minutes. A test run of the train has shown the train running at a speed of 300 km/hour.
However, there are stations in between where the train will have to stop for a few minutes, it will reduce the average speed of the train from Makkah to Madina. Right now, the traveling between these two holy cities takes more than 4 hours.
Similarly, the traveling time between Jeddah to Makkah will also be reduced significantly. However, people with cars would still prefer to drive from Jeddah to Makkh as it takes less than 1 hour.
3 million passengers every year: Resources have brought to note that the trains will carry around 3 million passengers every year and the number will increase during Hajj and Umrah depending on the number of pilgrims arriving in the country.
This also means that the trains will transport around 20,000 passengers every hour which will not only make the environment pollution free but provide a lot of luxury to the pilgrims.
The estimated cost of the trains is SR 63 billion which includes SR 9 billion for constructing the railway stations. The largest station is situated in Rusaifa, Makkah which was established at a cost of SR3.2 billion.
The others include the Sulaimaniya station in Jeddah at SR 2.9 billion, Rabigh station at SR1.75 billion and the station at Madina at a total cost of SR1.545 billion.
This will be a 480 km long railway which consists of 5 stations situated in Jeddah, King Abdulaziz International Airport and King Abdullah economic city in Rabigh with the inclusion of Makkah and Madina.
