Man sentenced to 16 years’ jail after attacking a Muslim Model with an acid

Resham Khan, a Muslim, Pakistani model who was a resident of London and a student of Manchester University suffered the worse time of her life as soon as she turned 21 years.

She was a professional model and was out for celebrating her 21st birthday just a few months ago when she faced a horrible acid attack. An aspiring Muslim model was driving her car in London when an unknown man attacked her throwing acid on her face from her car window.

She was with her 27-year-old relative Jameel Mukhtar who also became the victim of this horrible attack and got paralyzed for life, after losing his hearing sense from one of his ears and his neck and head also got deformed permanently.

The acid attack on the beautiful and ambitious model completely deformed her beautiful looks and she did not know how her face would look after the attack. Acid attacks are always referred as attacks on the soul of the person not on the body.

The attacker was later identified as a young 25-year-old man John Tomlin. Footage from the surveillance camera showed John Tomlin carrying out the bottle of acid in his hand and rushed to the model’s cars to carry out the hilarious attack and scare her for life.

The British Media has referred the acid attack as a ‘hate crime’ against the Muslims. However, John Tomlin surrendered himself to the police after a month he carried out the attack claiming about his unstable health.

John Tomlin pleaded to the police that he was mentally challenged and was formerly diagnosed as emotionally unstable and also suffered from personality disorders.

It was also said that Tomlin Health Situation took a turn for the worse after he became addicted to drugs. However, Tomlin was arrested and presented in the court where he was sentenced to jail for 16 years of his life after investigating the whole incident and ruling court hearing for several months.

On the other hand, the Muslim Model was able to recover and started posting her picture on Twitter just after two months of the attack. She has also started a blog to update her fans on her recovery and situation.

She also posted her pictures after she was attacked and explained the trauma and pain and how her mind was blown after seeing her attacked face and she also described her feelings wearing specially made clothes to prevent the scars.

She has also started a campaign to create awareness about the acid attack. However, her fans were happy to see her fast recovery and praised her for her bravery and perseverance dealing during her hard times. It really needs a lot of courage to come out of this trauma.

Masarrat Misbah who is a social activist in Pakistan has dedicated one branch of a famous beauty parlor Dupilex for Acid Burn Victims. All the staff members in this beauty parlor are acid victims. I believe it is a great initiative by the brave lady in a society where these victims face lower acceptability level.
