The stories of Prophets of Islam Allah had sent down a total of 124,000 Prophets for the guidance of mankind. These prophets were not sent down at one time, rather were sent down in different time periods. The very first Prophet being Adam (may Allah be pleased with him) and the last being Muhammad (PBUH).
The source of guidance for all the Muslims is Quran (the Holy Book revealed to the last Prophet) and Sunnah of the Prophet (PBUH). Evidence from both sources reveals the name of few Prophets.
Also, both sources have revealed interesting stories of some of the Prophets. Here we will share some incidents and authentic stories of Hazrat Yaqoob A.S.
Hazrat Yaqoob A.S. was the son of Hazrat Ishaq A.S. and grandson of Hazrat Ibrahim A.S. Hazrat Ishaq was the younger brother of Hazrat Ismail A.S. When Allah greeted Hazrat Ibrahim A.S. him with the news of a son, Hazrat Ibrahim was already 90+ years old.
Allah S.W.T sent His angels with the good news of the son and also told him that the name of his son will be Ishaq and he will be a prophet and Hazrat Ibrahim will have a grandson from Prophet Ishaq and his name will be Yaqoob.
Hazrat Yaqoob A.S. is also famously known as Israel. Hazrat Yaqoob A.S.’s favorite child was Hazrat Yousuf A.S. As other sons of Hazrat Yaqoob A.S. knew this very fact, they got jealous of their own brother Hazrat Yousuf A.S. Their jealousy had turned into hatred.
One day Hazrat Yousuf A.S told his father about a strange dream. Hazrat Yousuf A.S dreamt that the sun, the moon, and eleven stars were bowing down to him! Hazrat Yaqoob A.S. realized that it was a good sign.
This dream was an indication of great future. Hazrat Yaqoob A.S. warned Hazrat Yousuf A.S not to share the dream with any of his brothers. They started to hate their own brother so much that they wanted to kill him.
They planned to kill Hazrat Yousuf A.S by throwing him into a well which was very deep. In order to make the plan successful, they asked their father, Hazrat Yaqoob A.S., to send Hazrat Yousuf A.S with them.
They lied to their father saying that they wanted to take out Hazrat Yousuf A.S with them so that they could teach him to become a good shepherd. Hazrat Yaqoob A.S. did not allow them as he could sense that they were planning something bad for their own brother.
The brothers, on the other hand, were still thinking of how to get rid of Hazrat Yousuf A.S. They asked their father if they could take Hazrat Yousuf A.S with them to their work.
Their father agreed only when the sons made a promise to look carefully after Hazrat Yousuf A.S. But they made a false promise and took Hazrat Yousuf A.S along with them.
They asked Hazrat Yousuf A.S to give his shirt to them. They stained the shirt with a sheep’s blood and threw Hazrat Yousuf A.S into a deep well. They went home with the stained shirt and built a false story in front of their father.
They told their father that Hazrat Yousuf A.S got left behind and tragically a wolf killed him. Hazrat Yaqoob A.S. was heartbroken; he loved his son a lot. Yet he had a feeling that Hazrat Yousuf A.S was alive and one day Allah would reunite them.
He did not believe his sons’ fake story. Hazrat Yousuf A.S was alive in the well. The poor soul spent a whole night in a deep dark well.
All the prophets among Jewish were from the family tree of Hazrat Yaqoob A.S.
This structure, located between Bethlehem and Gilo contains the grave of Rahil, one of the wives of Yaqoob (upon him be peace) and the mother of Yusuf (upon him be peace).
This site is considered the third holiest in Judaism, after the Temple Mount in Jerusalem and the Tombs of the Patriarchs in Hebron.
