Which Gateway did Prophet Muhammad S.A.W use to Attack Makkah?

The triumph of Makkah is one of the greatest and significant events in the history of Islam and also in the history of the Arabian Peninsula. When the Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) entered Makkah, He had lowered His head in thanking Allah, even His beard was just about to touch the saddle of His dromedary. He was reciting Surat ul-Fatah to represent the honor and conquest granted to Him by Allah.

On this victorious day, the Prophet (peace be upon Him) gloriously entered the heart of Arabia, Makkah, a city which was the religious and political center. He devoted to demonstrating fundamental virtues upheld by Islam such as the principle of justice, fairness, and equality to mankind, modesty, and obedience to Allah.[irp]

It was Friday, the 21st of Ramadan when the Prophet (peace be upon Him) entered Makkah. Prophet Muhammad a mercy for mankind eased and comforted the people of the holy city Makkah on that great day, He declared that today is the day of mercy and forgiveness.

It is also narrated that the Prophet (Peace Be Upon Him) spent the night at around the well of Tuwa during the Invasion of Makkah in 630 A.D. It is situated along the road which goes towards the Grand Mosque that’s why every year many visitors visit the well.

He said that anyone who enters The Holy Mosque will be safe, and those who enter the house of Abu Sufyan and who closes his door will also be safe. At Umm Al-Qura University in Makkah, an Assistant Professor of History, Dr. Khalid bin Abdullah Al-Zaid has told Al Arabiya TV channel that when the Prophet (peace be upon Him) reached Tuwa Well, He divided His army in order to enter Makkah through its Northern gates at Thanyat Kedaa (Al Johoon).

The Holy Prophet (peace be upon Him) entered Makkah via Bab Al Salam (Al Salam Gate), Happy and Confident, the city surrendered to Him and the whole Quraysh embraced Islam. It has been a tradition since then whoever visits the mosque for the first time, he enters the Masjid-al-Haram through this gate.

The route chosen by the Holy Prophet on this day was totally different from the day when He had to leave through Makkah’s Southern borders and Hijra to Madina.

The History professor further added that Khalid bin Waleed came from Thanyat Kudda at Makkah’s southern entering area. This entrance is now called Ree’a al Rassam and it is presently included in the new Holy Mosque Enlargement.

The other name of Thanyat Kedaa is Thanyat Al Maqbara (The Cemetery Fold) based on Al Moallah cemetery. In reference to Azkhar plant, Kedaa is also called as Thanyat Azakher.

Khalid bin Waleed R.A fought against the infidels at Kedaa or Kudaa. Though, be at variance from the other Thanyat Kudda far down advancing towards other the southern entrance areas of Makkah such as Yemen, Mount Thor, and Mashaer. Currently, its path also takes you back to Kudda.

Khalid bin Waleed R.A fought from that side, some of the non-believers of Quraysh who fought and were at last defeated and crushed by him. There is no doubt about it that the Prophet (blessings of Allah and peace be upon Him) has decided to conquest Makkah through peace and therefore it turns out to be the will of God that He succeeded to triumph over it and forgive most of its people.
