It is a perfect snack for hot days and a great substitute for fatty desserts.It is one of my favorite fruits especially in the hot summer. When you eat watermelon during the hot days of summer, it provides you a sense of calmness. Here are some benefits of watermelon;

1-Watermelon has much more lycopene than raw tomatoes: Lycopene is a potent carotenoid antioxidant which given the vegetables and fruits a red or pink color. It is most commonly associated with tomatoes; however, watermelon has a more concentrated source of lycopene. In comparison to a large fresh tomato, one cup watermelon has 1.5 times more lycopene than the watermelon.

2-Watermelon Juice can relieve soreness of muscles: If you have a juicer you can use, try juicing out about one-third of a fresh watermelon and then drink the juice prior to your workout. This juice contains more than 1 gram of I-citrulline, which is an amino acid which protects muscles against pain.

A study had found that those men who drank unadulterated or treated watermelon juice before their workout had much less soreness 24 hours after the workout in comparison to those who had a placebo. You must be careful though as the juice contains a lot of fructose.

3-It is both a fruit and vegetable and completely edible: Watermelon is related to squash, pumpkin as well as cucumbers. This is due to the fact that it is part fruit and part vegetable.
