Every year millions of Muslims from all over the world travel to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia for Hajj and Umrah. These pilgrims use a variety of land, air and sea routes to reach their destination, according to where they are traveling from. However, you will never have met a pilgrim who has made a truly testing journey as the men we are going to tell you about.
8 Muslim pilgrims from the UK started their journey towards Madina, not by car, boat, plane or bus, but instead on bicycles. Yes, that’s right; they started their journey on bicycles from the UK all the way to Madina and arrived on 19th August 2017. They completed this miraculous task after crossing a total of 6 countries which includes France, Germany, Switzerland, Liechtenstein, Italy, Greece, and Egypt. They traveled around 3,200 Km to reach the Holy city of Madina.
It took 8 pilgrims from the UK around 6 weeks to reach the Holy Land. The last part of their cycling journey was very difficult as they had to pass the deserts of Egypt and Saudi Arabia under the intense heat. In some parts of Saudi Arabia, the temperatures reach 50C in the middle of the day. It was a difficult situation for them but as soon as they saw the minaret and green dome of Prophet’s Mosque, their tiredness flew away. They were feeling refreshed in the Holy city of Madina.
The 8 riders were supported by 2 support staff making it a team of 10 people. The purpose of making all this effort is to raise one million GBP for the Syrian refugees. Up to last media reports, they had already raised £150,000 (around SR 1 million) and would be making efforts for the remaining £85,000. We sincerely pray that Allah help them in their good cause. We have listed down the names of all the riders below.

This is not the first time someone has made the effort of reaching the Holy Land of Makkah and Madina in a unique way. In the year 2011, a Bosnian Man walked to Hajj crossing 7 countries and 5700 KM on Foot. It took him around 6 months to reach the destination. May Allah reward them for their passion and hard work.
The riders were overwhelmed with emotions and crowds gathered around them to welcome them. They were assisted in Saudi Arabia by local cycling groups Saudi Cyclists and Taibah Cyclists who helped them overcome obstacles they had faced. Mohammed Ehsaan one of the 8 cyclists said: “words cannot describe the feeling”. The riders will now head to Makkah in order to perform Hajj. May Allah grant them an accepted Hajj.
After taking some rest in their hotels, they came back to the Masjid al Nabawi and went live on their Facebook page. The following video has been extracted from their live feed and you can see their level of Iman Masha Allah! They are about to cry while entering the Masjid al Nabawi.
