Hampi: Hampi has a surreal amount of energy in it; it was the last capital of Vijayanagar, which was one of the greatest Hindu Kingdoms in the history of India. It is known for the beautiful ruins and the large boulders which provide the best backdrop.
Madurai: The ancient land of Madurai is in Tamil Nadu and is home to one of the most historically impressive and beautiful temples in south India i.e. the Meenakshi Temple. If you see any 1 temple, this is the one to see. It is a major center for the Tamil culture as well as learning.[irp]
