Experience of a Pakistani Passport Holder: Dears, I have a Pakistani Passport last month I traveled to Qatar via road. Before planning my trip, I went to Qatar embassy in Riyadh to confirm if I can get an on-arrival visa on the border. Embassy guys asked my nationality and profession and then told me to apply for tourist visa. Even my profession (system analyst) is on the list. But I guess they want Pakistani citizens to get a visa first (even it’s not mentioned anywhere on their MOI website).

They gave me Alawwal bank account number, where I submitted 315 SAR (105 SAR per person). I filled application forms, submitted them along with photocopies of Iqama, passports with bank deposit slip. Please try to find someone who can have a conversation with you in English. BTW it took me 1 month to get Visa. Initially, they applied but after many follow ups mentioned to me that it’s rejected. Then a serious guy checked my submitted documents, he applied again and got the response from Qatar within 3 days. He forwarded me the emails he received containing links to download visa.

Keep your Iqama IDs, Car Istimara and driver’s license with you along with passports. After crossing immigration control of Saudi, on Qatar side park your car and go to visa office. Give the officer your passports and printed copies of your Qatar visa. And he will put entry stickers on passports. After this, you have to pay for insurance. I guess that was some 90 SAR.

  • Ali Raza

It is better to confirm it from them before going.

  • Ali

  • Revelry Ridges

It seems like you do not have the computer programmer profession written on your iqama as few of my colleagues were able to travel with that profession. I assume you have a computer technician in your iqama unless you provide some proof.

Edit : Referring to Ali Raza

  • Ali Raza

Computer Programmer is written on my Iqama. They said that Computer Programmer with Pakistani Passport cannot travel.

  • Mohamed Rahees

is “Computer Technician” is eligble to get on arrival visa in Qatar??

  • Michael

    Hello everyone,

Now that the actual iqama expiry date is not printed on the iqama card, only the expiry date of the card itself, how do they verify if you have the 6 months left of your residency? For example, we have only 3 months left of our current residency, but our iqama cards are still valid for another 3 years.

Has anybody ever been turned back because they did not have 6 months left of their Saudi residency?

They only ever extend your Saudi residency by one year, so if they take the 6 months left clause seriously, it means one can only travel to Qatar during the first 6 months of their 1-year residency.

  • Usman Malik

Yes off course everyone can get visa on arrival except labor professions.

  • Usman Malik

Even you have three month validity of your iqama you can get visa on arrival of Qatar border Salwa.

  • Usman Malik

you can get visa on arrival at Qatar border Immigration. Go to Qatar immigration with family and take visa from them. Very much simple no need to worry Guys. forget about others

  • Usman Malik

no you can’t get visa on arrival of Qatar because you have labor profession. you need sponsor from Qatar to get visa.

  • Usman Malik

Very simple go to Qatar Salwa border and take visa on arrival from Qatar immigration.

  • Usman Malik

Yes you can able to get visa.

  • Usman Malik

    Yes this is enough.

  • Mohamed Rahees

Thanks Usman Bai. ..But “Computer Technician” is not in the approved list of profession list…Are you sure they will get visa on Arrival?

  • Usman Malik

Yes I’m sure 100 %. Go to Qatar by road or by air it’s up to you there will be no issue within second you will able to get visa on arrival. Have a nice trip

  • Renee Jude Loffe

  • fareed

What happened please describe me in details, i am also planing to go next month with same profession. Kindly update me

  • AAbu Naz

marketing specialist is not recommended for on arrival visa

  • Michael

i did travel and get the visa, but my iqama had been extended previously, so it was valid for almost an entire year at the time of travelling

i think it is not worth taking chances – it’s a long drive to the land border from ANY saudi major location – why would you waste your time?

just make sure your iqama is valid for at least 6 months at the time of travelling

by the way unless you go to visit relatives, you can give qatar a miss – doha is a permanent construction site cursed with horrible traffic jams the whole day, nicely looking but extremely poorly constructed structures that are sold at top end prices, and an army of ignorant and arrogant visitors from another nearby gulf country – guess which one !

  • For Pakistani passport: Dears, last month I traveled to Qatar via road. Before planning my trip, I went to Qatar embassy in Riyadh to confirm if I can get on-arrival visa on the boarder. Embassy guys asked my nationality and profession and then told me to apply for tourist visa. Even my profession (system analyst) is in the list. But I guess they want Pakistani citizens to get visa first (even it’s not mentioned anywhere on their MOI website).

They gave me Alawwal bank account number, where I submitted 315 SAR (105 SAR per person). I filled application forms, submitted them along with photocopies of Iqama, passports with bank deposit slip. Please try to find someone who can have conversation with you in English. BTW it took me 1 month to get Visa. Initially they applied but after many follow ups mentioned to me that it’s rejected. Then a serious guy checked my submitted documents, he applied again and got the response from Qatar within 3 days. He forwarded me the emails he received containing links to download visa.

Keep your Iqama IDs, Car Istemara and drivers license with you along with passports. After crossing immigration control of Saudi, on Qatar side park your car and go to visa office. Give the officer your passports and printed copies of your Qatar visa. And he will put entry stickers on passports. After this you have to pay for insurance. I guess that was some 90 SAR. And that’s it –

  • Thank you very much for your detailed feedback. You had to go to their embassy to apply for the visa? I would appreciate if you can share some more details. For example, you went there yourself or along with family and other matters which we need to consider.

  • Yes I went myself only. Embassy needs filled application form,
bank deposit slip, copies of iqama, passport, 2 blue background photographs and an introduction letter from your company stating your profession and salary. According to embassy their SLA to issue visa is 5 working days. You can also check status of your visa on this link: https://goo.gl/781YLF (search with your passport number and nationality)

For those who want to travel through road, its recommended to drive in daylight. Since on this route there is not too much traffic and there are frequent camel crossings. (This depends upon your preference and comfort)

  • Thanks a ton!

  • Tariq

  • Tariq Ismail

can you give me your number to ask some thing plz

  • @Umar – forms are available at Qatar embassy. They can give that to you along with the account number of Awal Bank where you have to submit visa fee.

  • Please call Qatar embassy first and inquire about the rules for your nationality and profession.
